These paintings are a representation of the life that artist Susan has built in Darwin. Good friends; a home that visitors call a ‘sanctuary’, with glorious comfy red chairs and waterlilies; and its surroundings – the trees, the sea, and the amazing sky.
Susan Penfold has dabbled in art at various times, but found pastels a bit over five years ago. Loving their tactile nature and the brilliance of the pigment, she has been building her skills in landscapes, still life and portraiture.
Having won the Seabreeze Festival Jetty Art Prize in 2020 she decided that she better take her art more seriously. This is her first exhibition.
