David is a prize-winning visual artist, based in Darwin, Australia.
He complements his professional practice with facilitation and guidance for clients with Paint & Create Darwin. These social painting events take place within the Darwin and surrounding areas of the Top End of the Northern Territory. He enjoys helping people experience mindful creativity to promote self-confidence.
David is also an emerging international artist, travelling to New Zealand and the UK, his country of birth, and gaining further inspiration for his artwork from various cultures. David works mostly in pen & ink as well as paint and photographic media. The foundations of his art were formed whilst living and practicing in Edinburgh, Scotland. David's skills have since developed in the last decade while growing his entrepreneurial practice.
David enjoys wandering from one medium to another, from the controlled detail of pen and ink, to the spontaneous yet gentle flow of watercolour or acrylic ink, to the malleable and definite application of acrylic and oils, as well as painting with light in photography.
Human impact and environmental awareness continue to influence my artistic style and develop the stories I tell with my growing body of work.
David's artwork is being shown, and sold in Australia, New Zealand, Scotland and England and can be found in private collections internationally.
David’s background has been quite varied, with a previous career researching in the environmental sciences heavily influencing the subject matter of his artwork. His visual arts career has also been complemented within the performing arts. David founded and chaired Edinburgh’s first LGBT theatre company, worked professionally as a live actor for an agency supplying corporate role play actors, and he has directed and acted in various amateur dramatic companies for musical and theatrical performance.
