Another year another member's annual art exhibition from the Art Educators of the Northern Territory. Members will be responding to the theme "Money's Too Tight to Mention". Opening night is set to create a warm friendly vibe and showcase the arts practice from art teachers across the Northern Territory.

“The inherent drive that defines parameters also holds the potential to transcend them.” With a focus rooted in deep connection with the source material, José creates immersive paintings that exude gentle tones and framed reveries. He retains the original inspiration for each work, allowing it to evolve into a new narrative - a fitting prelude to his language of strictness & extravagance. Curated by: Rhea Ornias Tan Jose engages in daily rituals of challenging the medium, exploring the parameters of his vision and the potential of his experience. His practice of restraint creates an indelible ripple in his works, which also serves as a form of catharsis, allowing empathy to find expression.

As a self-taught artist residing in Darwin, I take inspiration from plants and wildlife in my local area, favourites being flowers and birds. I consider myself a process artist, for me the, ‘creating and making’, are where I find the most joy. Art is my escape from the everyday mundane.

Breathing In Colour is a visual celebration of expression, inviting the viewer to experience the colour, flow and movement of the artworks. This vibrant series showcases a variety of flowing abstract paintings in harmonious combinations of dark, light, bold and subdued contrasting colours, drawing out introspective reflections of self.
