Rrambaŋi | Bukaway
The Bukaway group, are collective of Yolngu men and women from Yirrkala and based in Nhulunbuy. Through three workshops, the Bukaway Dirramu (men) transform wax models into striking metal sculptures through the ancient craft of lost wax casting. These sculptures are made from recycled aluminium, aluminium is made from the bauxite stone found beneath their feet. These pieces capture the essence of their Dreaming, featuring spirits of animals, the rhythm of the seasons, dreams, and stories. Visit the exhibition to witness the shimmering surfaces that hold the totems and memories of the Bukaway group and experience their profound connection to North East Arnhem Land.
