EXHIBITION
Rebecca Smyth | Gallery One
Opening 6pm Friday 1st of November 2019
Showing from the 1st Nov | 22nd Nov

Darwin's Rebecca Smyth was diagnosed with breast cancer late last year, after a string of topsy-turvy years.

A cartoon just appeared in her head that same day, and as she drew it later she realised that this could be a coping mechanism. This series just kept growing as Rebecca progressed through surgery, chemo, radiation and a long slow recovery.

When it was all just getting too depressing and bleak she saw an exhibition of Brian Bulley's whimsical artworks, and it inspired the Owl and the Pussycat to come out to play for a while, as a bit of relief.

Join us for the opening of Rebecca's exhibition and journey into the ups and downs of her diagnosis, treatment and subsequent recovery.

You can find more of Rebecca's work online at http://www.rebeccasmythart.com.au/ or https://breastcancercartoons.weebly.com/
